How to get access your email from Prometheus' servers.
If you have an email account set up with us, you can retrieve email from Prometheus' servers by setting up an account in your favorite email program. If you are not completely wedded to an email program or are looking for a change, we highly recommend using Mozilla's excellent Thunderbird program which can be downloaded and used for free.

Below are the help files which will help you set an account in Outlook so you can get mail from Prometheus' servers.
Please note that Microsoft offers another program, called "Outlook Express" which is a source of frequent confusion. The pages here pertain to Outlook. If you are using Outlook Express, please go here.
To determine which version of Outlook you have, open Outlook and then click on "Help" and then "About Microsoft Outlook". You can obtain which version of Microsoft Outlook you are using there.
1) Start Outlook.
2) Select "Tools", then "E-Mail Accounts..." from the menu.
These menu items are found in the menu at the top of the Outlook window. Once selected, you will see the "E-mail Accounts" window.
3) Select "Add a new e-mail account" and click "Next."
4) Set the Server Type to "POP3" if unsure. Otherwise, set to "IMAP". Click "Next".
5) Enter you name and e-mail address.
6) Set the "Server Information" settings as follows.
Refer to the e-mail provided to you by Prometheus.
This is the same as the incoming mail server.
7) Enter your account name and password. Leave the "Log on using Secure Password Authentication" unchecked. Once done, click "Next".
Refer to the e-mail provided to you by Prometheus for your user name and password.
8) Click "More Settings"
9) Select the "Outgoing Server" tab
10) Click the "Servers" tab
11) Check the "My server requires authentication" checkbox and ensure "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" is selected.
12) Click the "Advanced" tab
13) Set the Outgoing mail (SMTP) port as follows:
If you are unsure whether or not your ISP blocks Port 25, you can call them, but often it is easier to try sending mail out. If it fails, come back and change this setting to "587".
14) Click "OK".
The "Test Connection" may or may not work at this point, depending on whether the transfer to Prometheus servers has occurred.
15) Click "Next" and then "Finish".
You should not receive any errors for the account you just set up. You may get errors on your older accounts, if they exist.

1) Start Outlook.
2) Select "Tools", then "Accounts..." from the menu.
These menu items are found in the menu at the top of the Outlook window. Once selected, you will see the "Internet Accounts" window.
3) Select "Add", then "Mail..."
This will launch the "Internet Connection Wizard"
4) Enter your name and click "Next"
This is the name you wish other users to see when you send them an email.
5) Enter you email address, click "Next"
6) Set the "E-mail Server Names" settings as follows and then click "Next":

7) Enter your account name and password. Leave the "Log on using Secure Password Authentication" unchecked. Once done, click "Next".

8) On the next screen, click "Next", then click "Finish"
Not quite finished, but almost.
9) Highlight the new account you just created, then click "Properties"
10) Click the "Servers" tab
11) Near the bottom, look for the "My server requires authentication" checkbox. Place a check mark there.
12) Click the "Advanced" tab
13) Set the Outgoing mail (SMTP) port as follows:

You should now be able to send and receive email through Prometheus' servers.

A "browser" is the program you use to surf the web. The three most popular browsers are Internet Explorer (IE), Firefox (FF), and Safari. Every computer will have at least one browser installed on it.
Using your browser, you can retrieve and respond to your email directly from our servers. You don't need any other special software. Simply follow the directions below:
1) Open your favorite browser.
2) Point your browser to the following domain: https://secure.sndservers.com. You may also have been assigned an easier domain name to remember, such as http://getmail.YOURDOMAIN.org.
You should see the SquirrelMail login screen.
3) Enter the user name and password assigned to you.
